Final Days in Costa Rica
Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:46AM I can't believe it is over. 10 days in Costa Rica and now I am heading home. I just got the hang of this city. I have been on my own running through the city for several days now. The new students are I. And the Beyond Program is well on it's way. Theist couple of days I have: picked up students from the airport, showed kids their new summer homes, pick kids up for school and workouts, workouts, workouts. Working with athletes has been a great experience and the kids are amazing. 9:30am - workout with two female soccer players from The WU. I am so glad that I got to work with these two. We did not know much about each other and we share the same campus but, here in CR, I have found new and great respect for them and our women's soccer team. 1:00pm - workout with the same group as last week. They respond well when we take the workouts to the next level. They are working hard pushing themselves and we reward them with more hard work. 2:00pm - the new students come for their workouts. Great bunch. Fresh off their first day of school, we kick their butt to see if they respond and they do. Three basketball players, five soccer, and a softballer from PLU is in this group. They are from all over the USA but the work hard together like they are a team. It was good to see.
This trip was everything I wanted and more. Grant and Josh are doing so many great things down here in CR that it is very inspiring. I hope to come back next year and stay longer.
I ended my trip with a dinner party at a UCR professor's house. Great people, great food, wine and mojitos. This place is awesome! I will return.
